Emily Stone
Uncommon Cacao CEO and Co-founder
Belize / Guatemala/ U.S.
Emily Stone has spent the greater part of the last decade deep in the jungles of Central America, creating meaningful market access for thousands of indigenous Maya smallholder farmers through supply chain companies connecting these farmers with premium chocolate makers in the U.S. and Europe. Alongside co-founders including leading bean-to-bar chocolate makers and Maya farmers, she built wildly popular Maya Mountain Cacao in Belize and Cacao Verapaz in Guatemala, all part of the Uncommon Cacao Group. These companies accommodate completely transparent business transactions and a true direct farm-to-consumer story for dozens of chocolate makers, and have been recognized at the global level for both quality and social impact. Emily is the only Ashoka fellow in the chocolate supply chain, a social entrepreneurship award, and loves roasted nibs on everything.
